I've search this forum and found the culprit could be a handful of things
-headlight switch
-headlight relay
-corrosion
-alternator

I'm going to have to dust off my manual on how to use a multimeter so I can hopefully narrow it down.

I wasnt able to find in my Chilton manual where the headlight relay is located. Please see my attached picture....

Anywho, I'm simply looking for some answers concerning my factory Realistic cassette player.

Recently in early May, the tape player decided that it no longer wants to close the door completely with a tape inserted... it still does play tapes fine, but something new is causing clearance issues with the door and whatever mechanism pulls the tape down I'm guessing.

• Cluster receives power when ignition is on
• Ground is good
• Lights on cluster work and receive power but no gauges work.
• I bench tested the temp gauge and fuel gauge and both worked when directly hooked to power
• Wiring colors we know
  • Black with yellow stripe is power
  • White with black stripe is ground
  • Black Tachometer
  • yellow with green stripe Water temp gauge
  • yellow with red stripe Fuel Gauge

I replaced my voltage regulator and the charge light went off for the most part, it will barely flicker while the vehicle is running. And I can hear the VR clicking when the charge light flickers with the headlights.
The charge light also will flash on for a sec when turning off the vehicle.

I've just about had it with the electrical system on my 76. There have always been weird quirks with the charging system, headlights, turn signals, etc. throughout my build, but today was the last straw.

After putting in a 6AL box, the engine turned over a few times before I heard what sounded like a fuse popping and I lost all electric power to anything not coming straight...

I have an 80 the only place I can really see to do it without hacking the dash up and customizing the stock location is to install under glove box or under the lower factory gauges either way kinda out of the way so give me some ideas and insight!!
