 Thought I’d share the current chapter of my stupid 5vz engine swap saga.  I had been using the original radiator mated to the 3.4L engine, but the lower inlet did not line up well at all with the thermostat housing. The original radiator did an admirable job considering it was designed for a much smaller motor, but the fan really had to work to take up...<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[I picked up a 1975 long bed with a 20R, A40 automatic trans with an 8&quot; rear end with 4:11 gears from the factory for $750 a few years ago. A fair amount of surface rust but nothing too major wrong with it. It was a PNW truck but brought to southern Ca in the late 70s (from what I could tell from the maintenance logs).<br />
This is the day I went to look at it.<br />

My plan of action is to:<br />

 get it lower, remove some springs, aluminum blocks, not way low, maybe 2 inch front and back.<br />
<br />
Replace mirrors, seats, headliner, and pull toolbox out.<br />

I need to do something with front valance/bumper<br />
<br />
Need a cheapy wheel set, or hubs....Or paint those ones?<br />

I am currently in the process of converting the 75 from a 20R to 22RE and a potential tranny and rear dif swap from a 91.  Ive looked through a couple of threads but not much details on the wiring.  Any one have any idea on how easy or hard to wire it back up.  I have a donor truck that is complete so hope that would make life easier.  Also, would the 91 tranny use the same mounts? It has tons of blow by and compression was around 120 on all cylinders last time I checked. A good friend has a lift, engine hoist, experience etc and is down to hang out and swap in a 20 or 22r with me.<br />

i just picked up a 1971 hilux and cant wait to get started on it.<br />
its a little rusty, but the frame and the box are solid and the 8r starts right up. Hopefully i can get her safetied for summer and not lose too much time as my main focus is getting my 510 fixed up and to use the stock hilux as a daily.<br />
