I removed the passenger side one by just cutting the bolt head off and then everything else just shot out from under truck which was good. With the driver side, I grinded the bolt head off and it isn’t coming out of the half moon spacer. I can turn the entire bolt with the 2 lock nuts, but Beating the half moon spacer with a hammer, heating up the entire thing, and...<br />

I&#039;ve read the spindles are the same in 79-83 as the 76-78 just swapped left to right for the steering behind the spindle.<br />

I&#039;ve read that people have used the drop spindles from 84-..95? on the 79-83.. so why not use the drop spindles on the 76-78 pickups on opposite sides? <br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Hey guys, recently picked up a &#039;78 short bed and I&#039;m making big plans for it. I want to swap in a Toyota 2rz or 3rz motor by using the motor mount adapter brackets from Chilkat Designs. Their website lists the brackets for 1979 and newer Toyota&#039;s, again mine&#039;s a 78. I spoke with Chilkat and they told me that it should fit, but it really comes down to the difference between the frames.<br />

Does anybody know if there&#039;s any difference between the frame/engine bay of a 1978 and a 1979 Toyota...<br />

It was lowered by previous owner and he had taken the torsion bars out. Would a 84 torsion bars work? I can’t find any part trucks to pull them off of. the brackets are also M.I.A.. I need help this is my first Toyota. Ps. I’ve called places from 6 hours from home looking, Facebook, and searched the web. Im not made of money so would prefer to save some dough.       <content:encoded><![CDATA[I’ve been working on the is 79 SR5 for a bit, and I have it mostly buttoned up to drive, except for this really bad/sketchy steering wheel shake above 40 mph. On inspection things look in working order, the hub bearings have been completely re-packed, and the wheels/tires balanced, and no play in any of the wheels from what I can tell.<br />
Can’t figure out what is causing this aggressive shaking.<br />
Any insight on what to inspect and/or what specifically to do to inspect and test .<br />

It looks like there used to be a guy that made tubular ones under the name CanDo but it appears to be gone. There are some Moog and Dorman options with built in ball joints that look similar.       <content:encoded><![CDATA[Currently in the process of rebuilding the front end on my 1976 Hilux and ran into an issue. Somehow the geometry seems to have changed enough that the upper ball joint is rubbing on the bump stop and there doesn&#039;t seem to be much travel in the suspension when loaded with weight. See images below.<br />
