Stripped down. Every time I thought we were done we'd find another dent/ding/rust spot. 10 years of neglect and almost 30 tears of abuse, er, I mean FUN.

I knew there were problems before we pulled the windshield but I didn't know how bad it was. Almost made me scrap the project. I was slow work but the firewall and 3 sides of the opening had to be fabbed by hand. Hats off to my brother for some fine work with a welder.

Reality was we were preparing to find more dents once the primer got put on.

After the self etching of course. This stuff flows like pudding.

Wet sanded the primer with 800 to try something new. The smoother the surface the smoother the paint, right? Well it may have been a little too smooth. Had a couple runs in the first 2 coats of color. No biggie though. For the record we don't know if the smoothness contributed to the runs.

This is aircraft paint. It is $500/gallon. If you check your local shop often enough you will find a mistint in the color you want for pennies on the dollar. Combine it with self etching primer and some 2K and you've got a high quality chip resistant paint job that will last for years.

In my younger in dumber days I may have danced on this part of the truck. Smooth as a baby's bottom now.

The color is so white it almost hurts the eyes to look at it when the sun is out. She's Beautiful. Special thanks to my brother for all the work he put in welding, banging, filling, sanding, and painting. Hood doors and tailgate get painted this week and she gets to come home and wait for a motor.

I built it in 1998 but never gave it a full body/paint work up. Today I pulled some dents and we started filler.
