    gas?!?!?

My father has a 04 GTO with an ls1 6 speed... 25+ MPG hwy
My 06 GTO with a ls2 auto... 21+ MPG hwy

Now if I drop one of those is my truck which weighs even less and put a high gear like 2.73 and a 6 speed.... I bet I would get better mileage than you with your 4banger

Don't get me wrong I love the 22r... been driving one for 20+ years
But after much research and getting over the thought I was a traitor to put a GM in
The best option is truly the chevy v8
If you go with an aluminum block one like the LS1 or LS2 the weight is almost the same as a steel block 22r....
Since all the V8 swaps in the past there is a ton of swap parts to make it a bolt in application
and a 2wd has none of the front diff clearance issues....

I still plan on a LS1 for my truck
I may just go with a steel block v8 since LS1's are still pricey then swap to an LS1 later
The LS1 can even be converted to a carb now so no wiring harness is even needed
And since the engine is shorter then a JZ you can keep a regular fan and not cut the radiator support

    and oh ya
    the LS1/2 are metric engines....

Come to think of it, aren't toyotas more american than the american cars anymore?

Why yes they are lol! MTB the Ls1 is a great engine but a standard 350 is a pointless swap just save your money instead of buying a steel 350 and then later a ls1. Personally I would rather have a lexus V8. I'm not trying to say American V8's aren't good I just think that they are old technology and gas guzzlers. Obviously the new ones are doing well in mpg and in a light truck they would be even better but I'm still against them; but heck to each their own I would rather see a whole bunch of different toyota pickups than for them all be like mine!

Hey I know what you mean Yoter... I would love to do a jz or lexus swap... but it is such an invasive swap with so many mods where is ironically the gm v8 is easier and big hp right out of the box...
All toyotas in the states are made in the states these days... as far as I know. I believe 93 was the last year for the Jap truck (hilux) 94 and up is US built... I think the lexus is still made in japan tho.... I guess the japs won't let the lazy american workers screw up their luxury model.... Honestly I think most of the new toyotas are not only ugly but the quality isn't there either. give me and old jap built toy any day!!!

Ya I really see no adavantage to the new toyota's over old toyota's. The old ones got better/same gas mileage, are more fun to drive, more reliable, cost less, look way better, smaller (advantage to me I hate how big vehicles are America needs to lose weight not get bigger cars), old school! I'll take 90's toyota over any new car from any brand (minus exotics).
